BIO

James Behr was hailed as “a demon pianist” by The Boston Globe and “genius composer” by InTheFray Magazine.  A Juilliard graduate, he has performed throughout the U.S., including TV and radio; Carnegie Hall; Alice Tully Hall and Lincoln Center; the Ravinia and Tanglewood Festivals; and with  orchestras including the Virginia Symphony, Naples Philharmonic and Florida Symphonic Pops as Artist in Residence.  He performed at Carnegie Hall as First Prize winner in the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition.   His original music includes Europa (piano & orchestra), Rhapsody Tableaux (blue age), Suite Memoirs (new age piano), Kaleidoscope Suite (fusion rock/new-age), Prisms (nu-jazz), and Boca Sweet (symphonic pops).  His musicals include E-date (Off-Broadway Times Square Arts Center), Dreamquest, The Jungle Island, and The Count of Monte Cristo, lauded as “beautiful, romantic, sweeping” (Outer Critics Circle).  It won awards from the New York Musical Theatre Festival and West Village Musical Theatre Festival and ran Off-Broadway at the Bleecker Street Theater.  Behr is a graduate of Juilliard and Northwestern University.  A Steinway Artist, he resides in New York and often lectures on music at Manhattan University.
